Frequently Asked Questions
You’re based in Canberra, but do you travel for weddings?
Of course! Please email me for a direct quote.
Travel fees apply to all bookings and vary depending on distance and time. Travel expenses may also include paid parking if necessary.
For areas outside the ACT region we have a 5 adult minimum booking size due to the amount of travel involved.
How soon should I book you?
Some brides will make a booking as early as 6 months before their wedding date. If you are sure you want my services on your wedding day I suggest booking sooner rather than later. On average brides tend to book their makeup artist at least 4 months before their wedding date to allow ample time for a trial. I receive daily enquiries from brides and my weekends tend to fill up fairly quickly.
Do I need a trial?
I highly recommend that all brides have a trial at least 6-8 weeks before their wedding date. Bridal trials are conducted within a set time frame of 2 hours. This not only gives you an opportunity to discuss the wedding details and try out the look you were thinking of but also to ensure that you aren’t allergic to any products and are happy with your makeup artist.
It’s not uncommon for a bride to change her mind about the colour of lipstick or even the entire look. Particularly if you don’t wear makeup on a daily basis, you may find a trial helpful to decide what you like and don’t like.
It isn’t necessary for your bridal party to have a trial although you are more than welcome to bring a friend along to the trial for a second opinion.
Can I have a trial before I commit?
Absolutely! I was quite picky myself when it came to my own wedding makeup so I do understand you want to be 100% sure of your decision. It’s so important to me that you feel comfortable and confident that I can provide you with the look you’re after. Please keep in mind I cannot hold a date without a deposit.
What happens at the trial?
When you book a trial with me I’ll send you some information regarding what you need to bring as well as how to prepare your skin for makeup application.
Firstly, I’d love to hear all about your wedding! We’ll spend some time discussing your theme, your wedding dress, your hairstyle and your taste in makeup. The more information you provide, the more we can tailor your makeup for a complete look. I have a variety of photos that you can browse through if you are unsure of what you want and of course I can offer you some expert advise.
Once you’ve decided on a look we will talk colour schemes based on your skin tone, eye colour and the dress. I will then prep your skin and apply the makeup for you to see.
When you are happy with your look I will make a reference of the products we used and take photos as a record of the style we will recreate for you on your wedding day.
We will also discuss the look you would like for your bridesmaids as well as a skincare regime for you to follow in the lead up to your wedding to ensure you skin is clean and fresh on the day.
Please note: a trial is conducted within a set time frame of 2hrs. Any additional services required will be charged at $25 for each further 30 minute interval in excess of the allocated duration, computed at the start of each further interval.
Will my makeup last all day?
Of course! My kit is stocked with only the best products appropriate for long lasting makeup. For those of you who aren’t use to wearing makeup, try to avoid touching your face throughout the day. I will of course offer you tips for touching up to ensure your makeup stays looking fresh into the night.
What products do you use?
I use a variety of luxury makeup & skincare products such as Make Up For Ever, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Laura Mercier, Urban Decay, Smashbox, Kevin Acoin, Cover FX, Dermalogica, Embroylisse etc.
I understand that some client's may have very sensitive skin and issues with various makeup brands. I have a selection of makeup and skin care products to suit your needs, however, I am more than happy to work with your own products if you’d prefer. Patch tests may be conducted on your skin before full application to make sure you don’t have a reaction.
I’m not use to wearing makeup. Can you do a more natural look?
It’s what I specialise in! A lot of my clients aren’t use to wearing a lot of makeup and choose me for that exact reason. I love accentuating natural features and prefer the skin to look like skin. It’s so important to me that you look and feel like you.
Do you do makeup for events other than weddings?
Yes! Please send me through an enquiry and I’ll get back to you with a personalised quote and my availability.
What happens if I don’t like certain aspects of my makeup?
Please let me know! I encourage my clients to be honest with me. Tell me what you like/dislike. I understand that it’s difficult sometimes to communicate the look you are after. I want all of my clients to be 100% satisfied.
Helpful tip: When searching for images of makeup styles you might like, look for those with similarities in your eye shape/colour, skin tone and hair. You are more likely to be happy with the outcome.
What do my bridesmaids and I need to do to be prepared for my wedding day?
As previously stated, at your trial we will discuss a skincare regime for you to follow in the lead up to your wedding to ensure you skin is clean and fresh on the day. When you make a booking I will send you information concerning what you need to do in order to be prepared for both your trial and the day of your wedding.
Do you offer a touch-up service?
Absolutely. I offer personalised packages for my Touch-up Services. I understand that each client will have varying needs depending on their schedule. If you wish for me to stay with you throughout the day for touch-ups or even entire look changes, please enquire for pricing and availability.
Can you do any kind of look?
Of course! Every makeup application is tailored to my client’s personality and style. The more information and examples you can provide, the better the result. In saying this, it’s important that we have a shared vision. Have a look through my portfolio to ensure you like the style of my work.
